Telhara is a Buddhist monastery located in the Nalanda district of Bihar state, which was active from the 1st century to the 12th century. It is considered to be older than Nalanda and Vikramshila University. It is also known as Telhaka.
Telhara University, once considered a great place for education, was built to accommodate over 1000 monks and students.
Under the Telhara project, which started on 26 December 2009, red sandstone, ancient pottery, bound and bronze, and stone sculptures of Hindu deities were found. And now the government is running a campaign to protect it.
