INTRODUCTION:- Whiskey is an Alcoholic beverage drink made from fermented grain mash. It is made from barley, corn, rye, etc. The ABV of whiskey is 40%. Drinkers in India consume the most whiskey in the world. It has a complex tax structure in central and state governments in India.
HISTORY AND INVENTION:- Distillation of whiskey was practiced by the 2 B.C in Babylonia in Mesopotamia. It is used as medicine for internal anesthetic and external antibiotics.
In 1820 Edward dyer was the first who built the first distillery in India. Scotch whiskey was first introduced in India in the 19th century.
TYPES, SMELL, TASTE, AND APPEARANCE:- Whiskey smells like phenols, sweet, and the taste is smoky, malty, sour, etc. It looks Dark and light which means Dark whiskey is too rich aromas and maturity and light whiskey are young and immature.
TYPES OF WHISKEY:-
○ Blended Whiskey
○ Single Cask
○ Cask strength
○ Single malt whiskey
○ Grain whiskey
CONCLUSION: Whiskey is the most consumed drink in the world. In India, the love for whiskey is more than anything. Imported tax is applied on whiskey which is applied by the central government. The sale of alcohol is banned in some states. More than 90% of alcohol is consumed in India as ”Whiskey”.
