BHANGARH: WHERE SILENCE WHISPERS WITHIN WALLS

“Bhangarh” fort is a historic fort located in the “Alwar” district of Rajasthan, India, near the Sariska Tiger Reserve. This fort is widely known for its Mysterious stories and many people say, this is India’s most haunted place. But still, approximately 1500 tourist visit the fort on normal days. Bhangarh’s mystery is the main attraction for visitors. Everyone has same taught in mind that what is the thing behind the walls and why silence in Fort echoes in visitor’s heart. There are two stories of Bhangarh fort, which is still surviving in the form of legends that make this fort more enigmatic.
The first folklore assert that the fort was built in 1573 AD for “Madho Singh” a Rajput ruler, younger son of “Raja Bhagwant Singh” and the younger brother of the famous general “Maan Singh” who has served under the Mughal emperor “Akbar”, after getting permission from an Austere named “Bala Nath” who used to be live there. But he kept a condition to king that Shadow of fort must not fall upon the meditation place of the Austere and ruler also agreed to his condition but fate has something else and the shadow of fort fall upon Austere’ meditation place unfortunately and the fort was doomed. During its early years, it is said that Bhangarh was a prosperous town with palaces, temples, houses and markets where many people used to reside. Inside the fort complex, several temples such as the Gopinath Temple were constructed. The city was carefully planed with shops, streets and residential buildings. However, the city eventually became deserted and many legends grew around its sudden decline.
The second most famous story about this fort is about princess “Ratnavati”. She was known for her beauty and intelligence. According to the story, a tantric was attracted by her beauty and fell in love with her. In order to get her, he tried to do black magic to make her fall in love with. But the princess discovered the trick and threw away the magical perfume which he had enchanted. The bottle rolled onto a rock which crushed the Tantric. Before dying, he cursed the town, saying that Bhangarh would soon be destroyed and no one would ever reside there again and very soon town became abandoned. The story says that Bhangarh was completely empty overnight, its residents disappeared into thin air and Now there is only unresolved mystery and silence live.
No matter which version we version of tale we believe, this is still unexplainable which makes fort so mysterious. Even though archaeological evidence suggest a possible natural disaster but the lack of definitive answer has fueled the numerous supernatural power that can be surround the fort.The architecture of Bhangarh is a fascinating blend of Mughal and Rajashtani styles. The fort is spread over vast area with multiple temples, residences for the royal family and commoners. The main gate is known as Bhoot bangla (Ghost house), which set the different experience and environment for visitors. As one enter the fort, the silence whispers from walls and wind talk about the downfall of this beautiful fort. The ruins are remarkably well-preserved, hinting at the grandeur that once graced the entire city. The temples within the fort complex stand as tall and silent sentinels, bearing witness to the passage of time and showing the power of faith. The intricate carvings, the detailed architecture, and the sense of spiritual energy that still echoes within these structures that create a surreal experience for visitors.
The stories of paranormal activity at Bhangarh are abundant and varied. Visitors have reported hearing disembodied voices, feeling cold touches, and witnessing strange lights and shadows. Individuals exploring the area have claimed to hear voices without bodies, feels icy sensation and see unusual lights and shadows. Many resident claims that they have mysterious sounds, echoes of music, laughter, and scream in the middle of night. Archaeological survey of India (ASI) enforces a strict ban on entry into the fort after sunset and before sunrise. The gates are secured and there are few security personnel appointed for guarding the fort, so if anybody try to enter in premises they can stop them. Even paranormal researchers have shared their unsettling encounters, contributing to Bhangarh’s image as more puzzling.
The fort has become more become a centrepiece for folklore, Bollywood films and supernatural narratives. Everyone has their own story about this fort. Hence what is the truth and what is the lie, this is tough to say. Bhangarh will captivate and unsettle, a constant reminder unsolved and certain places perpetually carry an air of the enigmatic. The restriction imposed by the ASI are not a merely a formality, they genuinely want public to be safe from any problem which can risk someone’s life also and this also reflect respect for the supernatural occurrences associated with the fort. Many people just take these things in joke, however the ethical consideration of visiting a place with such a potent reputation must be considered in respect of that place. Before going to explore this place, A tourist must think about respect for the local belief, cultural significance of the site, and the potential impact on the surrounding environment are crucial. Visitors should approach the fort with sensitivity and mindfulness, remembering that the ruins are not just tourist place but also a sacred space for many people.The allure of Bhangarh extends beyond its haunted reputation. Another good part is Sariska Tiger Reserve adds another dimension to the experience, offering visitors the opportunity to explore the rich biodiversity of the region and enjoy to the fullest.
